What Can Homoeopathy Treat?

Homoeopathy is effective in the treatment of several acute, chronic & recurrent conditions.

Homoeopathy is a system of therapeutics, which is generally overestimated as a solution for all conditions. Similar to any other mode of therapeutics, Homoeopathy too, has its own scope and limitations.

It is not that Homoeopathy can cure each & every condition, though Homoeopathy has an excellent scope in certain conditions. It is essential to understand the scope & limitations of Homoeopathy, or to what extent this mode of therapeutics is compatible, or can be incorporated with the other systems of medicine.

Homeopathic medicines act as curative, preventive & palliative

Homoeopathy considers every individual as a unique individual expressing a different set of signs and symptoms; every individual is treated as a separate entity. It treats every individual on the spiritual; emotional; mental and physical levels. Every individual is treated as a whole and not the individual parts or organs.

Homoeopathy eliminates the disease from the root cause rather than suppressing it

As per the Homoeopathic science, cure means permanent restoration of health where the symptoms must be permanently extinguished from the body along with the general well-being of the patient.

Basically, Homoeopathy is beneficial in diseased conditions which are functional in nature, but in conditions where structural changes have taken place or in cases of congenital deformities, or in disorders where obstruction has taken place Homoeopathy has a limited role.

There are several disorders, where the other systems of therapeutics have no role, and in such cases, homoeopathy comes into play towards the improvement in the quality of life. Homoeopathy treats by enhancing the immunity and resistance of an individual by stimulating the body’s self-healing ability. These medicines act on the mental, emotional and physical aspects of the body.

Homoeopathic treatment has immense scope in the following cases

1. Skin cases

Homoeopathy offers exceptional treatment in skin conditions where the modern system of medicine can only suppress the skin condition; while Homoeopathy aims in curing the skin condition. Skin cases such as vitiligo, psoriasis, etc can be successfully treated by Homeopathy.

2. Surgical cases

Homoeopathy can avert the need for surgery in several conditions. It is useful in pre & post operative conditions. Homoeopathic medicines have an outstanding role in hastening union of bones, in fractures. In cases such as piles, gall stones, renal stones, uterine fibroids, non- malignant tumors, etc Homoeopathy can treat them purely with medicines preventing the need of surgery.

3. Psychiatric cases

Helps in effectively treating mental disorders, without producing any sedative effect.

4. Recurrent conditions

Homoeopathy has a great scope in effectively eliminating the recurrent tendencies & in treating them.

5. Incurable cases

In cases where gross & irreversible pathological changes have taken place, Homoeopathy has a limitation as far as cure is possible; in such cases, Homoeopathy can offer palliative relief to the patient, if not curative.

6. Epidemic cases

Homoeopathic medicines are of great help as prophylactic during epidemics.

7. Effects of Malabsorption

Homoeopathy offers a good role in effects of malabsorption in spite of consuming a nutritionally balanced diet. In nutritional disorders, primarily the essential nutrients should be replenished.
